Holding in line with their recently adopted rapid-release strategy, on March 13th Mozilla released Firefox 11, the latest version of the independent, open-source browser. One of main improvements coming with the release of Firefox 11 is the ability to synchronize add-ons across different computers, devices, and versions of Firefox.

The Samsung Galaxy Note was released in October 2011 to most of East Asian and European markets, causing a great deal of attention and excitement over its impressive dimensions. With a 5.3 inch screen size, the Note enters the market as a device somewhere between a smartphone and tablet. The Note also has several other striking features including hand recognition and stylus friendly apps. Only a short time after its release overseas, Samsung announced sales topping one million, a trend which was expected to continue here in the US.

Study: Google+ Traffic Down 31.6% in Four Months

Google+ has experienced quite the tumultuous ride since its introduction in June 2011. In the words of Google’s Chief Executive, Larry Page, Google+ “has become a robust competitor in the social networking space, with 90 million users registering since its June launch.” However, a recent report by ComScore tells a different story, highlighting a downward trend in overall use. Members of the social network spent 5.1 minutes on the site in November, and 4.8 minutes in December. By January, users were spending only 3.3 minutes on Google+ per month, on average.

Google Search Engine Market Share Greater Outside of US

At current expectations, Facebook’s IPO would rank the company among the world’s largest, and would be the “biggest Internet IPO in history”, besting Google’s of $1.9 billion in 2004.

Ice Cream Sandwich Slowly Enters Market; New OS Seen on .4% of Android Web Traffic

Ice Cream Sandwich, the most recent dessert themed version of the Android Operating System (OS), was made available to the public on November 12th, 2011. It is unlike any Android OS before it, in that it incorporates aspects of Gingerbread and Honeycomb into a single version that can run on both tablets and smartphones. However, due to delay, it wasn’t until much later (on December 15th) that the OS saw its first real foray into the markets on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Firefox 9 Experiences Slow Adoption Rate After Troubled Launch

Coverage on Mozilla's patch to cover its latest browser version, Firefox 9 has clouded market scrutiny of its lack of success till date. Firefox 9 has only captured 5.6% of the Firefox market more than a week after release. In stark contrast, versions 6 and 8 caught on fire with users; representing 45% and 36% of Firefox traffic within a week, respectively.
